Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is reportedly done with a teammate following a season of ups and downs.

The Lakers were eliminated from the 2023 NBA playoffs at the penultimate juncture, with the Denver Nuggets sweeping them in the Western Conference Finals. To be fair, the Lakers did well to have made it that far considering the fact that they nearly missed the playoffs altogether.

According to NBA insider Bill Reiter, however, James is ready to move on from Anthony Davis.

LBJ and AD won the Lakers a title in their first season together yet the Lakers have struggled since the bubble triumph in 2020. Davis was one of the biggest reasons the Lakers had a shot at the playoffs after balling out of his mind while LeBron sat out injured late in the regular season.

Still, Reiter has said that LeBron no longer wants him around, claiming that there is a power struggle between King James and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka over Davis’ future with the team.

“There is a power struggle going on between LeBron and GM Rob Pelinka,” he said on the latest episode of The Zach Gelb Show. “I think LeBron is over AD, and there’s a non-zero chance he could get dealt this offseason.”

Should any of this be true, it wouldn’t be all that surprising as Davis’ availability has been a major issue for the Lakers since they traded for him in 2019.

It also appeared that there was a rift between the players as Davis noticeably remained seated while everyone was on their feet cheering for James when he passed Kareem Abdul Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
