It appears former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick won’t be hired during the current cycle, with the options quickly dwindling.

The Atlanta Falcons have opted to go with someone else, hiring former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris after two meetings with Bill. While there are still two vacancies in Washington and Seattle, Belichick hasn’t been interviewed by either team and there’s nothing to suggest that he will.

Belichick might not get the opportunity to coach again until 2025 but, the way FOX Sports radio host Craig Carton sees it, the wait might turn out to be the best thing for Belichick’s career as he might end up in a great situation.

Speaking on ‘The Carton Show’, the host predicted that the six-time Super Bowl champion will be the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs as Andy Reid could retire after next season.

“I think Bill Belichick will be the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs next year,” Carton said. “I think that’s where he goes after Andy Reid retires after this year, which apparently there’s some smoke around him retiring.”

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio has also suggested that Reid could be done soon.
“I think there is reason to believe the Chiefs have the possibility on their radar screen. We will find out when the season ends,” he said. “A lot of times, a guy keeps his mouth shut until it is all said and done – he doesn’t want to be the story, he doesn’t want to be the focal point, he doesn’t want it to be the issue.”
While there’s every possibility that Reid will walk away from the game, it’s still hard to imagine Belichick to KC being a foregone conclusion. Such was the case with Atlanta just this month and look how things turned out.
