Mike Garafolo and Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry had a classy and surprising response after he was asked a “silly” question by NFL Reporter Mike Garafolo.

The superstar running back is officially a member of the Baltimore Ravens, having signed with the team as a free agent after spending the first eight years of his career with the Tennessee Titans.

Henry, a former Heisman and four-time Pro Bowler, is expected to make the Ravens even better than they were last season, so there’s a lot of excitement in Baltimore right now.

The 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year spoke to reporters at an introductory press conference on Thursday and was subsequently interviewed by NFL Network.

At one point, Mike Garafolo decided to ask him about his dapper purple suit, which prompted a surprising answer from the star running back.

“You got that purple suit with the black shirt and the black tie. It looks like it’s custom. How long have you had that?” the NFL insider inquired. “And did you have it in your closet saying, ‘I’m going to wear that one day when I’m a Raven?’”

Henry would explain that he wore the suit to his grandmother’s funeral in 2016.

“Actually, this is the suit I wore to my grandmother’s funeral,” he said. “She raised me since I was a kid, she passed away in 2016 – my rookie year – and this was the suit I wore to her funeral. When [the Ravens] told me I was coming to do the presser and sign, I felt like this was the perfect suit to wear with the purple – matching their purple here.”

Garafolo posted the clip to X, claiming his question was “silly.”

“Ask a silly question. Get a way deeper answer than you expected,” he wrote in the caption.

While he wasn’t expecting to hear that Henry got the suit for a funeral eight years ago, Garafolo’s question was based on genuine curiosity, one of the most important attributes of a good journalist.

So perhaps it wasn’t silly?
