Aaron Rodgers has responded to a report from CNN claiming he said that the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012 was a government inside job.

Rodgers is no stranger to controversy and is always in the news for one thing or the other. The New York Jets quarterback is also believed to be a potential candidate for Vice President, according to another recent report.

The Jets will hope that is not the case as they haven’t gotten any real returns on their investment since trading for A-Rod. But the QB is receiving backlash for something else at the moment, with his supposed Sandy Hook claims going viral.

He took to X to offer a staunch denial on Thursday.

“As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy,” he wrote. “I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life. My thoughts and prayers continue to remain with the families affected along with the entire Sandy Hook community.”

The incident from 12 years ago has sparked several conspiracy theories and Rodgers’ comments could be taken to mean that he believes some of them, though we have no idea what they actually are.

The Jets will be happy to see this one behind them as they would prefer it if the player could just focus on returning to the lineup. The team has been of the view that they’re only a good QB away from a Super Bowl for a while, and Rodgers was supposed to be that star who got them over the line.

So far, things have not worked out as planned as he tore his Achilles on his debut in September. He should be ready to go again by the start of next season.
