Angel Reese supports former teammate Hailey Van LithAngel Reese supports former teammate Hailey Van Lith

Former LSU star Hailey Van Lith has transferred to TCU Horned Frogs for the final year of her collegiate career. She announced it on social media, where she put up a video showing off her #11 TCU jersey.

“The pen has officially hit the paper,” wrote Van Lith in the caption of her introductory video.

Van Lith’s former teammate and friend, Angel Reese, supported her new beginning. Reese and Van Lith were one of the most dangerous duo for LSU last season. Reese has now been drafted by the Chicago Sky as a No. 7 pick in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

“Proud of you! you know what to do & you know I’m always rocking with you!!,” wrote Angel Reese on Hailey Van Lith’s post.

Angel Reese’s comment on Hailey Van Lith’s post drew the attention of fans, who appreciated her for always standing up for women in sports. Van Lith was exceptional in her final season at LSU, averaging 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in 2023–24.

Here is how fans reacted to Angel Reese supporting her on X.

“And this is how u [you] protect women in sports. As always Angel stepping up for others,” said one fan.

“Women supporting women,” said another.

Some fans talked about how LSU’s head coach won’t get near to the NCAA title with her best players getting transferred or drafted.

“Got the feeling Kim Mulkey isn’t going to get the players like talking about to return to the championship status,” said one fan.

Meanwhile, some fans said Hailey Van Lith carried Angel Reese to LSU and loved how Reese was supporting her now.

“That white queen carried you,” a fan wrote.

“Love to see the support,” said another fan.

Some fans wanted Hailey Van Lith to thank LSU for becoming what she is today.

“Can LSU get a thank you from her?” asked one fan.

Who will replace Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese at LSU?

It won’t be easy for Kim Mulkey to fill the void left by her former star players, Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith. LSU was eyeing top prospect Sarah Strong, who later clarified that LSU was not in her plans.

However, there has been a commitment from promising players like Jada Richard from Lafayette Christian Academy. She is being seen as a key player for LSU next season, as she averaged 26.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in high school.

Reportedly, LSU is also looking to secure the services of Kailyn Gilbert, who averaged 15.1 points and 2.3 assists per game at Tucson in the 2023–24 season.

So maybe this can be the two new faces that Mulkey expects to be the new faces of LSU college basketball.
