USC guard JuJu Watkins had a stellar first season with the Trojans averaging 27.1 points per game.
USC women’s basketball superstar JuJu Watkins had a fangirl moment when she met American rapper Tyler The Creator during Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference first-round showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and defending champion Denver Nuggets on Thursday.
Watkins, whose NIL value is pegged at $555,000 as per On3, met with the founder of Golf Wang and music festival Camp Flog Gnaw on the sidelines of the Lakers-Nuggets matchup, which Denver won 112-105 to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven duel.
Watkins posted a photo of herself alongside the “Goblin” rapper on her Instagram stories, with the caption:
“Going crazy rn.”
Tyler The Creator, whose net worth is pegged at $30 million as per CelebrityNetWorth, has been a regular fixture in Lakers games and has visited LA superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the locker room.
The rapper/producer, born Tyler Gregory Okonma, was once praised by James’ wife, Savannah, for his latest collaboration with Louis Vuitton.
JuJu Watkins appears in Paul George’s podcast
JuJu Watkins also appeared as a guest on the “Podcast P” show of NBA star Paul George. The National Freshman of the Year talked about her first NCAA Tournament experience, her 51-point game against Stanford and her quest to improve her game.
Watkins discussed her experience during the tournament, noting that the road gets more difficult as the game progresses.
“I think the tournament, it gets harder as you progress more on the line like game plans become even more detailed and everybody’s really locked in because one and done,” she said.

The USC guard also talked about the 51-point game she had against Stanford last season. She recalled that she had a crazy run where she didn’t miss and continued shooting until she reached the point total.
“I went on a crazy run where I just didn’t miss. You can’t block out everything. You don’t see no defenders and you just started shooting,” she said.
Watkins also discussed the parts of her game that she wanted to improve for the upcoming season. She pointed out that, as a high-volume shooter, she wanted to improve her range and efficiency.
“I think efficiency is definitely my next step in my game. Being more precise about where I shoot the ball. Range is definitely something that (I want to improve). That’s a constant process I’m working on,” JuJu Watkins said.
Last season, the 6-foot-2 Watkins played 34 games and averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. During the tournament, USC defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (first round), Kansas (second round) and Baylor (Sweet 16). The Trojans lost to UConn in the quarterfinals.
