All across social media, people were partaking in jokes for April Fools, but one joke about Caitlin Clark did not go over so well.

Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes were getting set for the much-anticipated rematch against Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers.

Before the players hit the floor, Overtime, a sports media company, decided to partake in the April Fools’ Day joking theme by putting out a graphic of Iowa star Caitlin Clark holding her right shooting elbow with a message that stated she was declared out of tonight’s Elite Eight game against LSU because of an elbow issue.

Of course, social media started to go nuts because nothing had been previously stated about Caitlin Clark’s elbow.

Eventually, many started to realize that this was all a cruel joke and soon Overtime would delete the post due to the intense backlash they were receiving.

The Iowa vs. LSU Elite Eight game is a matchup of arguably the two biggest names in women’s college basketball and a rematch of the 2023 championship. Iowa and LSU are facing off in Albany, New York, with the winner heading to a second consecutive Final Four.

This will be the last meeting of Clark and Angel Reese in the college ranks as both look to add to their legacy before they head off into the WNBA.
