Not many students are selected to go and watch their school’s team compete at the Final Four and college basketball National Championships. The students who are selected are usually given the opportunity via the luck of the draw.

The students who do attend these games don’t necessarily get the best experience as they are forced to sit behind the net and stare up at the jumbotrons rather than watch the actual on-court action. The NCAA never really considers that the students may want to watch the game.

The Final Four was held at State Farm Stadium in Arizona this year, which may help the NCAA’s case as the stadium isn’t built for the sport of basketball. The stadium is the home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.

Comparing this year’s plan to the 2022 Final Four played in New Orleans, the seating wasn’t too bad. Just compare the two seating plans and you see instantly that there was no way for the many fans sitting at court-level to watch the game.

Watch a Final Four Game May Be More Difficult Than You Think

Comparing the student section to the upper levels for the games, surprisingly a student seat is more painful to sit in and watch a game. You’ll notice as you watch many games, the students are staring at the jumbotron for a better view of the action.

Not only that, students are stacked together in a stuffy zone with the court raised above ground level. Tack on cheerleaders, band members, and media in front of them, and you get yourself an experience that some may consider not worth it.

Just imagine being a student chosen to attend a game and being so excited, only to be placed at the back of the floor section with only the NCAA’s cheapness to blame. Not something many people would be happy about.
