The Los Angeles Lakers have decided to cut Scottie Pippen Jr. this week, and it’s been suggested that it’s because of his mother.

Scottie Jr. is the son of six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen and his ex-wife Larsa Pippen.

Larsa is often in the news because of her relationship with Marus Jordan, the son of the legendary Michael Jordan, who was, of course, teammates with Scottie on the Chicago Bulls. The relationship has caused friction between the two icons and they’re no longer believed to be on speaking terms.

It’s now being rumored that the unconventional hookup is the reason behind the Lakers cutting Pippen’s son. Rapper Cam’ron said as much on the ‘Come And Talk 2 Me’’ show week, suggesting that the Lakers don’t want that kind of publicity, and neither does MJ.

“It’s his mother,” he said. “Ain’t nothing to do with Scottie. They don’t need that to mess up the game. He got no time. He got waived by which team? They got no time. Jeanie Buss and them don’t got time for that nonsense.

“It only takes one call. Michael Jordan calls Magic Johnson, Magic Johnson calls Jeanie Buss, shut it down. Two calls… that’s all it takes.”

“Listen, you’re costing your son a job with this public S,” he added. “Keep the S under wraps.

“You know who’s P off now? Scottie’s P off. ‘Cause now you’re affecting my son.”

Sure, that’s a wild theory. But there’s also the fact that Scottie Jr. did well for the South Bay Lakers in the G League, averaging 21.4 points, 5.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 points per game playing 27.9 minutes a game. He only averaged 5.3 minutes in the NBA, playing only six games
