Hailey Van Lith in LSU v UCLA in the Sweet 16

After denying her giving the school her commitment a few days ago, Hailey Van Lith has eventually moved to TCU. She becomes the latest transfer portal acquisition by the Horned Frogs as they aim to assemble a superstar team for the 2024-25 college basketball season.

The point guard entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, marking the end of her sole season at LSU. Her time in Baton Rouge was disappointing as she couldn’t perform as expected.

Following Van Lith’s announcement of her move to TCU, Cameron Brink expressed her excitement at the development. The Los Angeles Sparks’ first-round pick immediately hit the comment section to show her support for Van Lith as she embarks on a new adventure.

“Yup yuppp,” Brink wrote.

Hailey Van Lith previously denied joining TCU

It was previously reported on April 18 that Hailey Van Lith would transfer to TCU. However, she refuted those rumors in an official statement to Doug Feinberg of The Associated Press on April 21, asserting that the decision on her next destination had not yet been finalized.

“I visited TCU and am very interested in them. However, I have also visited other schools and found them equally compelling. I haven’t made an official commitment yet, but I’m very close. No ink has touched the paper for any school,” Van Lith told the Associated Press.

Nonetheless, the point guard is heading to Fort Worth a few days after releasing the statement. Not many would have anticipated her to make her decision this fast. It is believed that her focus on earning a spot on the United States 3×3 Olympic team is playing a role in the delay.

Will Hailey Van Lith regain her feet with the Horned Frogs?

Hailey Van Lith had a brilliant junior season at Louisville before transferring to LSU. She averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, earning a first-team All-ACC honor. Her growth from her freshman season to that point was brilliant and evident.

However, a move to LSU didn’t turn out as anticipated. While her performance wasn’t poor, she was expected to be much better. She averaged 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists, helping the Tigers reach the Elite Eight.

Without a doubt, Hailey Van Lith is seeking to regain her feet at TCU, and that could be a good environment for that. The Horned Frogs have assembled a star team that is ready to compete and would offer Van Lith a brilliant experience in her final season in college basketball.
