Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid offered an update on quarterback Patrick Mahomes this Wednesday, ahead of the upcoming AFC Championship Game.

There are fears the star QB could miss the clash after suffering a high ankle sprain against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but Mahomes is keen on playing and that will be the case if the decision is left up to him.

Speaking to reporters today, per Adam Schefter, Reid noted that his starting signal-caller participated in the day’s morning walkthrough and will be practicing in the afternoon.

Mahomes was able to return to the game against the Jaguars after being taken off but the Chiefs didn’t miss a beat in his absence, with backup quarterback Chad Henne putting a 98-yard touchdown drive together to helpKC get past their divisional-round opponents.

The injury sustained by Mahomes is a pretty serious one and it’s likely he wouldn’t be considered a starting option had this been the regular season. But the possibility of him playing on Sunday is a very real one, given the above.
