Cameron Sutton has finally surrendered to authorities following a search lasting three weeks long.
The former Detroit Lions cornerback was wanted by Florida police on a domestic violence warrant and evaded them for close to a month. However, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has announced that he arrived at a jail in Tampa on Sunday night.
“After weeks of evading law enforcement, this man has finally made the right choice to turn himself in,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said, per the Tampa Bay Times. “Domestic violence has no place in our community, and no one is above the law here in Hillsborough County. My thoughts are with this woman as she continues to heal from this man’s gruesome actions.”
The 29-year-old turned himself in nearly a week after his attorney told police he would. The video below shows him being brought into the facility.

Sutton was wanted for domestic battery by strangulation, which could land him a five-year prison term as it is a third-degree felony.
The sheriff’s department got a call regarding a domestic violence incident in progress involving Sutton and a female on March 7. They requested assistance in locating the former Pittsburgh Steelers and Lions CB.
Lions president Rod Wood said the player was at the team’s training facility just outside of Detroit shortly after.
“We learned about the warrant at the same time everybody else did on social media,” Wood said WJBK-TV Fox 2 last Monday. “We were able to speak to Cam because he was actually in our building. We found him. He was down with our strength staff. He kind of showed up unexpectedly to work out.”
Cameron Sutton Has Been Released By The Detroit Lions
The Lions released Cameron Sutton on March 21, after news of the warrant was released.
The team signed the player to a three-year contract worth $33 million last year before he helped them win their first division title in three decades, as well as two playoff games.
Sutton started all 17 games for the Lions in the regular season, recording a career-high 65 tackles and one interception. He also featured in all of their postseason games.
