The Miami Dolphins have added yet another weapon to bolster the depth of their explosive offensive unit.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have signed veteran tight end Jonnu Smith to a two-year contract worth $10 million. Smith was released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week in a cap-saving move ahead of free agency.

The 28-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, having caught 50 passes for 582 yards and three touchdowns despite having to share targets with Drake London, Bijan Robinson and fellow tight end Kyle Pitts.
Smith joins a prolific Mike McDaniel-coached offense led by Tua Tagovialoa, the dynamic receiving tandem of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and star running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane.
Smith spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2017 to 2020), helping the team to a 2019 AFC Championship Game appearance and an AFC South division crown in 2020. In 2021 free agency, Smith signed a four-year deal with the New England Patriots worth $50 million.
After two disappointing seasons in Foxborough, Smith was traded to Atlanta, where he pieced together his best season despite lackluster play from the QB tandem of Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke.
And now for the first time in his career, the veteran tight end gets to play on a team with a top-10 quarterback in Tagovailoa.
