The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with a new quarterback.

On Friday, the New Orleans Saints announced the signing of quarterback Kellen Mond, as announced by New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

As of right now, the New Orleans Saints QB room consists of Derek Carr, Jake Haener, Taysom Hill, and Kellen Mond.

The 24-year-old was a four-year starter with the Texas A&M Aggies and left a tremendous legacy as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards, completions, pass attempts, passing touchdowns, and total offense.

His play on the field was good enough to get the Minnesota Vikings to select him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Kellen Mond would go on to sign a four-year deal, but the Vikings would waive him from the roster after just one season. He would then get signed by the Cleveland Browns in 2022 and then the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.

Now, the New Orleans Saints are giving Mond another shot in the league, and it could drastically change the current trajectory of the former college star quarterback.

New Orleans Saints Hoping For Even Better QB Play IN 2024

If the New Orleans Saints have any hope of trying to get into the postseason, the team needs the quarterback position to be even better than it was during the 2023 season.

Derek Carr inked a four-year deal worth up to $150 million in 2023 after he was released by the Las Vegas Raiders. In his first season with New Orleans, Carr threw for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, via ESPN.com.

His play could only muster up a 9-8 finish, which was only good enough for second place in the NFC South as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers owned the tiebreaker and went to the playoffs.

If Carr can be just as good or better, the team could easily win the division and get back to trying to fight for a Super Bowl.
