The NFL is canceling one of its most popular shows amid a host of changes taking place at NFL Network, with ‘NFL Total Access’ set to go off the air.
The show has been around for over two decades and started off as a flagship program in 2003, when it was hosted by Rich Eisen.
‘NFL Total Access’ will go on the air for the last time on May 17 and will be replaced by ‘Insiders,’ featuring Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo, and Tom Pelissero, on a temporary basis.
This is all according to the New York Post.
The Network is in the process of restructuring its programming, having already decided to shift ‘Good Morning Football’ from New York to Los Angeles. The show is off the air for the summer, going on a break ahead of the move. So far, Jamie Erdahl is the only one who has committed to remaining on board.
‘NFL Total Access’ Is Out Due To Cost-Cutting
The moves come as part of a series of cost-cutting measures being undertaken by NFL Network. They’re also happening amid negotiations with ESPN, with the parties looking to reach a deal that would see Disney take on the Network and other NFL Media assets. The NFL would get a minority stake in ESPN in exchange.
Meanwhile, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin is also set to leave NFL Network as layoffs continue across the company.
The Hall of Famer hasn’t been all that secure at the Network for quite some time. He was taken off Super Bowl coverage in 2023 after a woman accused him of lewd behavior. He returned at the beginning of last season following a suspension and still appears on FS1’s ‘Undisputed.’
