Russell Wilson has already decided on his new home, three days before 2024 NFL free agency officially opens.
Before midnight, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Wilson will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. Per Schefter, it’ll be a cheap one-year deal for Wilson in Pittsburgh while he collects $38 million from the Denver Broncos following his release.
The Broncos released Wilson after two seasons and opted to take an NFL record $85 million in dead cap charges. After meeting with the Steelers and New York Giants, Wilson ultimately decided to stay in the AFC.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin promised after the club’s Wild Card Round loss to the Buffalo Bills that they would bring in competition for starting QB Kenny Pickett, and a nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl-winning QB certainly fits that bill.
