Ben Simmons’ season is over. The Brooklyn Nets guard’s lower back injury will keep him out of action for the duration of the 2023–24 season, the organization said in a statement on Thursday.
The team said,
“Ben Simmons will remain out for the remainder of the season while he consults with specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back. Simmons, along with his representatives and Nets medical personnel, are currently in discussions with numerous experts to determine the course of action that will provide him with the best opportunity for long-term sustainable health.”
This will be a big blow to the team as they still have an outside chance to qualify for the next round.
Ben Simmons has been a big flop for the Brooklyn Nets
Since Ben Simmons was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in February of 2022, there has been a turbulent period. Before being moved, he missed all of the Sixers’ games. That season, he was sidelined by a herniated disc in his back and did not play a minute for the Nets.

The next season, Simmons made his Brooklyn debut with an average of 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 42 games. Due to back and knee problems, he was sidelined for almost half of the 2022–2023 season.
This takes us to Simmons’ performance in the current campaign when he started just 15 games while averaging 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists.
During his four full seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons was selected to the All-Defensive First Team twice and was an All-Star three times. However, his fall has been swift.
Due to the team’s struggles to stay in the postseason race, the Nets sacked head coach Jacque Vaughn last month. With a record of 25–37, Brooklyn is presently three games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the last Play-In Tournament place and ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference.
