Cardi B locks lips with a dancer in her latest “Up” music video, as seen on YouTube.

While Cardi dominated the music charts in 2020, she bid farewell to the year in her new visual, setting off a dance frenzy across Twitter with her infectious beats. Throughout the video, Cardi showcases her dance moves, sporting a variety of stunning outfits, ranging from a purple pastel cone bra top to a mesmerizing mermaid ensemble. However, one costume in particular seemed to carry extra significance.

Towards the video’s conclusion, Cardi switches into a studded, black leather bodice and fringe arm warmers, striking a remarkable resemblance to the late Left Eye’s iconic leather outfit from TLC’s 1999 music video for “No Scrubs.” The homage is clear, adding a poignant touch to Cardi B’s already electrifying music video.

Cardi B stirred anticipation on Sunday (Jan. 31) with a cryptic announcement of another announcement the following day. Sporting a black bikini and a long denim coat, she teased fans about what was to come, setting the stage for the reveal of “UP” in true Cardi fashion. The anticipation only grew as Cardi unveiled the cover art for the single, featuring her swinging in a clear half-bubble swing, dressed in a provocative pink outfit that left little to the imagination. She even recreated the daring look in an Instagram video on Tuesday (Feb. 2), playfully revealing that the outfit was entirely made of stickers.

“UP” follows Cardi’s groundbreaking single “WAP,” a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion that celebrated female sexuality and made waves with its star-studded music video. Since then, Cardi had kept relatively quiet on the music front, aside from lending her voice to tracks like BLACKPINK’s “Bet You Wanna” and a song by Anitta. However, fans have been eagerly awaiting her sophomore release since her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” dropped in 2018. It seems Cardi is now gearing up to deliver another highly-anticipated musical masterpiece.

Not only is Cardi B dropping new music, but she’s also making a comeback at the Super Bowl. The star, who stole the show in Pepsi’s gameday ad back in 2019, joined forces with Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) in a Wayne’s World reunion for Uber Eats’ commercial during Super Bowl LV. In a statement about the commercial, Cardi emphasized the importance of supporting local restaurants.

“You all know I love to eat, and right now, it’s crucial that we support our local restaurants,” Cardi expressed. The commercial urged viewers to “Eat Local” by ordering from neighborhood eateries via Uber Eats. “So many spots are struggling right now, and it’s up to us to EAT LOCAL! That’s why I teamed up with Uber Eats and my boys Wayne & Garth to help,” she continued.

Uber Eats is dedicating $20 million to support small businesses nationwide and even offering free delivery. “So, it’s time for all of you to show your support by enjoying some delicious eats from your local favorites this Super Bowl Sunday. I’ll see you there!” Cardi urged, rallying fans to join the movement.
