A Kansas City Chiefs star recalled suffering a significant injury during Super Bowl 58.

Offensive lineman Nick Allegretti is a three-time champion with the team and may have played his last game for them as he’s set to head into free agency.

Allegretti only got 79 snaps throughout the regular season in 2023 but played the same number in the Super Bowl as he helped the Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers.

As folks would find out later, a lot of those snaps were played with a torn UCL, the same injury Niners quarterback Brock Purdy sustained in the NFC Championship Game last year.

Allegretti’s injury was the result of a tackle from Nick Bosa and would have forced KC to turn to a third-string lineman, yet he didn’t give them the option as he played through the pain.

“I haven’t suffered an injury like that until then. I immediately knew,” he said on ‘The Jim Rome Show’ a few days later. “It was something that you heard a pop, you felt it, and knowing minimal about anatomy knew that something was wrong in my elbow. Because my elbow is not supposed to bend that way.

“Fortunately, we had the two-minute warning, and I had a couple seconds to gather myself, figure out that my arm still bent and I was able to go.

“It was a tough situation, but fortunate enough I was able to still play.”

Allegretti found himself in the starting lineup after Joe Thuney suffered a pectoral injury against the Buffalo Bills.

Thuney had been one of the best OLs in the NFL, securing First-Team All-Pro honors, so Nick knew he had huge shoes to fill.

The task wasn’t too daunting for him as he played every snap against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game before his inspired Super Bowl performance.
