Kirk Cousins might not be the happiest man right now after what the Atlanta Falcons did during the NFL Draft.

Cousins was signed for a lot of money by the Atlanta Falcons this offseason and could have gotten some help from the team with the No. 8 overall pick of the NFL Draft.

The Atlanta Falcons had other ideas, as they got a replacement for Cousins instead.

The Falcons pulled off a massive surprise with the eighth pick, drafting Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. just two months after inking Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal.

This is a shocking pick for the Atlanta Falcons, but Kirk Cousins is 36 years old and coming off a torn Achilles. He could realistically give the team a good two years before they insert Michael Penix Jr. as the starter.

Despite the logic, it’s still a shock to see the Falcons go with a quarterback over someone like receiver Rome Odunze or even a pass rusher like Dallas Turner.

Kirk Cousins officially inked a four-year, $180 million deal with the Falcons to be their quarterback for the immediate future.

The team decided to make things awkward by drafting Michael Penix Jr. in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. It should be noted that Kirk Cousins is coming off a major injury so Penix could be an insurance policy just in case something bad were to occur.
