Rashee Rice, a wide receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs, reportedly participated in a hit-and-run on a Dallas freeway, so on Thursday, he finally handed himself into the police.
On March 30th, police said that Rice, driving a Lamborghini, and Theodore Knox, driving a Corvette, were speeding on the North Central Expressway in Dallas. As a result, the drivers lost control of their cars and collided with four other cars, injuring four persons.
Before being sent to the DeSoto regional jail in Dallas County, Rashee Rice handed himself into the Glenn Heights Police Department. The eight counts brought against him each had a $5,000 bond set, and the Kansas City Star reports that he would shortly be released from custody.
The 23-year-old wide receiver was charged with six counts of collision involving harm and one count of aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily injury. All of the charges are felonies.
After Rashee Rice turned himself in, he had to take his booking photo, and that mugshot was sent out and quickly went viral.
NFL fans quickly took to the comment section and quotes and noticed the same thing about Rashee Rice:
Rice apologized for his role in the incident while taking “full responsibility” for his involvement. His lawyer, Royce West, told reporters at a news conference Thursday his client admitted to Dallas Police he was involved in the crash.
In an emailed statement, West emphasized what he called Rice’s “continued cooperation with law enforcement.”
“Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and feels deeply for those injured as a result of this accident,” the lawyer said via Keranews.com.
