A FORMER Family Feud contestant’s answer about marriage has resurfaced after he was charged with his wife’s murder three years later.

Tim Bliefnick went on the TV show and shocked host Steve Harvey when he was asked: “What’s the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?”

He addressed his then-wife Becky Bliefnick on camera and said: “Honey, I love you.”

Then, he responded to the question: “Said, ‘I do?'”

Tim and Becky eventually got divorced and in March 2023, he was arrested for his estranged wife’s murder.

A few weeks prior, on February 23, 2023, Becky was shot 14 times in the middle of the night in her Quincy, Illinois, home, which borders northeast Missouri.

Becky’s father found her later that day on the bathroom floor and called the police.

Investigators believe the shooter broke into Becky’s home by climbing up to the second story and prying open a window in one of her children’s bedrooms.

They found a partial shoeprint on the carpet where the killer entered her home and eight spent 9-millimeter shell casings.

Becky’s three boys, who were 12, 10, and five at the time of her death, were at their father Tim’s house on the night of her murder.

“What happened to Becky should have never happened. And it just — it still just doesn’t feel real,” Tim previously told CBS’ 48 Hours.

Tim and Becky met when they were both attending Quincy University. They started dating two years after graduation and eventually got married and had their three boys together.

Becky’s sister Sarah Reilly, told the outlet that Becky was happy for the first five years of her marriage with Tim, but said: “He got progressively […] more manipulative and controlling.”

She said that Tim did not support Becky’s decision to go back to nursing school. Tim reportedly said he did not like the idea of Becky’s career change, but that it was out of concern for her well-being.

ROCKY DIVORCE

After 11 years of marriage, Tim filed for divorce from Becky in January 2021. The two began to fight over money, property, and custody of their kids.

In the months following the divorce filing, Becky told her friends that she was afraid of Tim’s behavior towards her.

“He is becoming more vengeful and unpredictable,” Becky texted one of her friends, 48 Hours reported.

However, Tim told the outlet that Becky was the one who was vengeful.

Tim reportedly filed an order of protection against her, stating that Becky “stalked” and “harassed” him.

Three months after the filing, Becky sought her own order of protection against Tim, which said that he “entered her residence without permission,” according to 48 Hours.

Neither of the filings were granted, however, a judge did order the estranged couple to stay away from each other’s homes when they were not exchanging their kids.

HUSBAND TO SUSPECT

Tim became a person of interest in Becky’s murder after her sister told authorities about the couple’s past.

Quincy police found an abandoned bike without reflectors on the wheels less than half a block away from Tim’s house.

This bike was just like the bike investigators saw a shadowy figure riding in the direction of Becky’s house before the murder and then in the opposite direction shortly after the murder, which was reportedly captured on surveillance footage.

Police searched Tim’s home and car on March 1, 2023, and seized 54 shell casings and a crowbar found in his basement.

Information from Tim’s cellphone was downloaded and investigators found searches including: “How to open my door with a crowbar,” “How to make a homemade pistol silencer,” and “How to clean gunpowder off your hands.”

Nearly two weeks after police searched Tim’s home, he was arrested and charged with his estranged wife’s murder.

After national news caught wind of Tim’s arrest, his Family Feud episode resurfaced.

However, investigators believe that Tim’s answer about marriage had nothing to do with Becky’s murder.

“It wasn’t said with any malice or — bad intentions. It was supposed to be funny,” Tim told 48 Hours.

Tim’s lawyer Casey Schnack argued that there was no physical evidence linking his client to the murder and that Becky’s death could have been from a break-in gone awry.

Schnack said: “There were prowlers in the area, right next door, within a week of — of her being murdered. They’re breaking into cars, they’re trying to break into houses,” the outlet reported.

However, during Tim’s trial in late May 2023, the jury found him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion.

In August, Tim was sentenced to life in prison.
