Roman posited that the Fast & Furious crew aren’t normal — they might be invincible. Fast X’s ending might prove that to be true & we break down why.
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Fast X
Roman Pearce has been through a lot during his time in the Fast and Furious franchise, but Fast X suggests his theory about being invincible might actually be true. It’s no secret that the Fast and Furious franchise has had its fair share of wild action, often leaving its characters in precarious positions, and, in some instances, even leading to certain deaths — and resurrections.
In F9, Roman (Tyrese Gibson) survives yet another near-death experience. He made it out alive after being shot at, drove through a minefield, and even went to space and back. That he lived through such intense experiences without a single scratch or scar to speak of, leads Roman to the conclusion that he and his team are, in fact, invincible. How else could they have survived all the crazy stunts, crashes, and other death-defying acts? Tej dismisses Roman’s declaration of invincibility, believing it to be ridiculous, but Fast X posits, yet again, that Roman may actually be onto something with his theory.
Roman Surviving Fast X’s Ending Could Prove He Is Invincible
The end of Fast X saw Roman, Tej, Ramsey, and Han involved in a plane crash. While the moment was suspenseful, it’s hard to believe Roman et al. actually died. The franchise has already made the characters into superhero-like beings, capable of surviving just about anything. If Roman also survives Fast X’s ending, then there would be no more doubt about whether or not he’s invincible. Roman bringing up the theory in F9, a meta moment considering all that he had been through, was likely for a reason.
Roman has lived through too much for him to die in a plane crash, especially so close to the finish line. If Roman survives the plane crash, it would only add to the long list of incidents that he’s been able to walk away from. It would also prove him right in the eyes of Tej, who tends to roll his eyes at Roman. After all, if a theory is tested out multiple times and the result is the same, then Roman’s invincibility theory would be proven true. Roman could walk through fire at this point, and he would not only survive it, but he’d have no burns.
Roman Being Invincible Is Better Than Another Fast & Furious Death Reversal
The Fast and Furious franchise has had a couple of death reversals — Han and Gisele have been resurrected since their unfortunate demise in previous movies. However, teasing a character’s death is different from delivering on it. Fast X proving that Roman is indeed invincible is far better, and more interesting, than killing him off and bringing him back. Roman being invincible also plays into the franchise’s ridiculous and self-aware tendencies, and it would be fun to bring back the invincible theory in the final franchise installment, closing the door on the idea for good.
Considering all the gravity-defying stunts Roman and the rest of Dom’s team have managed to accomplish, it stands to reason that Roman’s theory of invincibility would hold up. Plus, including yet another death reversal so close to the end of the Fast and Furious franchise’s run is no longer considered a novelty, nor is it shocking. Roman being able to walk away from a plane crash unscathed would be outstanding, a true test of the theory’s hypothesis that would finally make it a fact.
