An absolute shocker came down today as Pete Carroll’s time in Seattle has come to an end as a result of both sides parting ways.

The Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals 21-20 last Sunday to finish the season above .500 with a 9-8 record. However, they lost out on a playoff berth to the Green Bay Packers, who held the tiebreaker over Seattle.

The week before, the team played the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lumen Field. Nobody knew it at the time, but that would be Carroll’s final game he would coach there.

After the loss, Carroll could be seen out on the field well after the contest seemingly soaking it all in.

Carroll has been Seattle’s head coach since 2010 and has compiled a 137-89-1 record there.

During his career, the Seahawks have only missed the playoffs four times, including the last two seasons. However, after the 2013 season, they defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII. They won the NFC Conference after that season, but the New England Patriots defeated them 28–24 in the Super Bowl XLIX.

Carroll also coached the New York Jets (1994) and Patriots (1997-99) and was a combined 33-31.
