Meghan Markle ‘desperate’ to be Taylor Swift’s friend, royal expert claims

Explaining why she thinks Meghan wants to be friends with the Blank Space singer, Schofield said, “I think she wants to be like Taylor Swift marketing-wise.”

Meghan Markle has recently made headlines over her and Prince Harry’s Sussex “rebranding.” As part of their rebranding, the royal pair not only launched a new Sussex website but also changed their children’s surnames to Sussex. Recently, a royal commentator has claimed that the Duchess is “desperate” to be friends with Taylor Swift.

Despite being renowned for her circle of celebrity friends, the 34-year-old singer Swift has never appeared on Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, despite receiving a handwritten invitation from the Duchess. Nevertheless, according to royal expert Kinsey Schofield cited by Express, this perceived snub hasn’t deterred Meghan from actively seeking a friendship with the hitmaker of “Cruel Summer.”

According to Schofield, Meghan made a point of ensuring that People Magazine was aware of her attendance at Taylor Swift’s concert in Los Angeles. Schofield emphasized that it was crucial for Meghan to have this information released to gossip sites, indicating her desire for public recognition. Swift’s illustrious career has been marked by a continuous ascent in fame and influence. In 2023, she was honored as Time’s Person of the Year, and most recently, she secured her 13th Grammy Award, adding to her extensive list of achievements.

This speaks volumes about Swift’s popularity and ever-growing fanbase, which has long been referred to as “Swifties.” “Taylor went from villain to hero, and I’m sure Meghan is looking at that transition and thinking, ‘How can I do something similar?’” Schofield added, per GBN America.
