Paul Walker, despite being the most significant part of the franchise, expressed dissatisfaction with a particular aspect of the Fast and Furious series.
SUMMARY
While Paul Walker enjoyed every second of being a part of the Fast franchise, he might not have seen eye-to-eye when it came to the change of vision from the original version of the film.
Paul Walker discussed the series’ transformation from street-racing gang members to sci-fi superheroes with exotic cars, expressing mixed excitement about the change.
Paul shared that his original dream was to be racing cars and being an undercover cop, the series took off and evolved into bank heists and global adventures.
Going back to the good old days of the Fast and Furious franchise, many of the hardcore fans may remember the film being about souped-up street cars and pink slips. And the one leading the charge was none other than Late Paul Walker along with his friend and co-star Vin Deisel. While he may not be around today, his memory and legacy live on in the franchise.
Paul Walker
Starting off with just a couple of bells and whistles pertaining to the culture of street racing, the subsequent creation of the franchise took the entire narrative from the local streets to global espionage. While it may have done wonders from the franchise’s success, Walker wasn’t too thrilled about the direction that the series took after the initial films.
Paul Walker Wasn’t Sure Of The Direction That The Fast And Furious Franchise Took

Being a true part of a family meant being close and being there for each other at every step of the way, something that the Late Paul Walker constantly managed to do for the Fast and Furious franchise. From The first film in the series to his tragic demise while shooting Furious 7, the star played a significant part in the progression of the narrative.
While he enjoyed every second of being a part of such a successful franchise, he might not have seen eye-to-eye when it came to the change of vision from the original version of the film.
In a past interview with Motor Trend, the Brick Mansions star talked about his then-upcoming film Furious 7, where he also touched upon the subject of the evolution of the series from a couple of street-racing gang members to almost sci-fi superheroes with souped-up and exotic cars. He said that while he may have not been against it, he wasn’t too excited about it either.
He said that his original dream was to be racing cars and being an undercover cop, the series took off and evolved into bank heists and global adventures. He said:
“It’s bittersweet for me. I don’t think we’d be where we are if it weren’t for minds like [director] Justin Lin and dedication from people like Vin [Diesel]. But, being a car guy, I always want things to be more authentic. When it comes to the driving, at this point we stretch what’s plausible, and I struggle with it. I feel like we owe a lot to the guys that are really into street racing, and it’s important to me to maintain integrity and credibility. They’re the bulls*it police.”
Therefore, even when the franchise is soaring to new heights, even going into space, fans can fondly remember the days when it was all about gunning to the finish line on the road, all thanks to Walker’s vision.
What’s Next For The Fast And Furious Franchise?
A still from Fast X
The turning point for the franchise came after the events of Fast Five, when Dominic Toretto was assigned by Mr. Nobody to take on Owen Shaw to get back Letty Ortiz from him. This led to them being a part of The Agency.
This has spiraled out into Dom and his gang taking on global-level superagents, mercenaries, and individuals who can destroy an entire economy with just a touch of a button. After the events of the latest Fast X, we have seen the return of many familiar faces and an adventure that will continue until they take down the latest villain Dante Reyes.
The Fast and The Furious, streaming on Netflix.
