After the Las Vegas Raiders fired Josh McDaniels, the stories began flooding social media about his awful coaching tactics and decision.

Last Sunday, FOX Sports Jay Glazer reported that McDaniels confronted Antonio Pierce for bringing up his 2007 Giants team that defeated McDaniels’ undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl 42 as a way to motivate players.

If you thought that was bizarre, this latest story involving McDaniels during his time in Denver is even more crazy. According to former Broncos tight end Nate Jackson, then-Broncos coach Josh McDaniels suspected that his wife was attached to running back Peyton Hillis and traded him because of it.
“MCDANIELS’S EGO WASN’T ONLY FRAGILE ON THE FIELD,” JACKSON WROTE. “HE FAMOUSLY SHIPPED OUT RUNNING BACK PEYTON HILLIS BECAUSE, RUMOR HAD IT, MCDANIELS THOUGHT HIS WIFE WAS ATTRACTED TO HILLIS.”

That wasn’t only it. McDaniels also had issues with some of Denver’s most talented young players including Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler.

Jackson wrote on the Defector:
JOSH HAD IMMEDIATELY BUTTED HEADS WITH DENVER’S MOST TALENTED YOUNG OFFENSIVE PLAYERS, JAY CUTLER, BRANDON MARSHALL, AND TONY SCHEFFLER. THEY WERE SHANAHAN GUYS, AND THEY MADE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE, SO HE SENT THEM PACKING. MY OLD TEAMMATE, TYLER POLUMBUS, WHO PLAYED FOR BOTH SHANAHAN AND JOSH, RELAYED THIS STORY TO ME: AFTER TRADING CUTLER, JOSH ADDRESSED THE ENTIRE TEAM AND SAID, “FELLAS, DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE QUARTERBACK SITUATION. I CAN TURN A HIGH SCHOOL QUARTERBACK INTO AN ALL-PRO.”
McDaniels was fired by the Las Vegas Raiders last week and I have a hard time seeing another NFL team giving him another head coaching job. In fact, it’s surprising the Raiders hired him after the way he backed out of the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job back in 2018.
