JUSTIN Bieber and Selena Gomez may have been one of the most iconic celebrity couples of all time.

The two stars were in an on-and-off relationship for almost eight years before they finally decided to call it quits.

When did Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez first start dating?

Selena Gomez was Justin Bieber’s first official showbiz girlfriend.

The two sparked dating rumors in 2010 when they were still just teenagers, but it wasn’t until 2011 that they confirmed their romantic relationship.

Their young love, however, was anything but perfect as it was often plagued by rumors of Bieber’s infidelity.

The pair officially split in 2014 but had an on-and-off relationship until 2018.

Bieber has since revealed that the songs What Do You Mean?, Sorry and Mark My Words from his 2016 Purpose album were about Gomez.

December 8, 2010: Bieber and Gomez were spotted on an IHOP date in Philadelphia together, although Gomez tried to shut down romance rumors saying they are just friends.

December 31, 2010: The pair spend New Year’s together in St. Lucia and were spotted kissing on a yacht.

February 28, 2011: Bieber and Gomez make their red-carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. 

May 2, 2011: Gomez confirms their relationship to Seventeen.

November 2012: Bieber and Gomez break up for the first time due to “being apart so much” and “trust issues,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. 

April 2013: The pair were spotted together again, engaging in PDA. 

November 6, 2014: Gomez confirms she and Bieber split for the second time while On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

December 2014: Bieber sparks romance rumors with Hailey Baldwin and is seen kissing her a year later on December 31, 2015, while in St. Barts. 

August 2016: Bieber begins dating Sofia Richie.

January 2017: Gomez starts dating The Weeknd.

November 30, 2017: Gomez splits from The Weeknd and reunites with Bieber.

March 7, 2018: The pair take a break and Bieber rekindles his relationship with Baldwin soon after.

May 2018: Gomez decided to walk away from the relationship.

At the time, a source told Us Weekly: “Selena started seeing the bigger picture when it came to their relationship, like what was more important: her general happiness and her family and friends’ approval, or her being together with Justin, where no one really supported their relationship.”

Who else have they dated?

Bieber certainly kept himself busy with a host of beauties during his time away from Gomez.

His most famous romances were with Sophia Richie and his longtime friend, Hailey Baldwin.

Bieber, however, ended up proposing to Baldwin in July 2018 and the pair got married the following September.

His wife and Gomez have a long history of beef between them.

Gomez, on the other hand, has been a lot more selective about her romances since dating the heartthrob.

In 2015, she was linked to DJ Zedd and in 2017 she dated The Weeknd, who she split up with in October of that year.

The Rare Beauty founder has also been linked to the likes of Charlie Puth, Nick Jonas, Orlando Bloom, Niall Horan, and Taylor Lautner.

The 30-year-old has been dating The Chainsmoker’s Drew Taggart since January 2023.
