As the 2023-24 season approaches the end, a bigger question still lingers unanswered. Will LeBron James end his career run with the Los Angeles Lakers? During the course of this season, there were multiple reports about the superstar’s disappointment with the team’s coaching team and management. On top of that, the team’s performance hasn’t been on a satisfactory mark either. Keeping all these factors into consideration, a popular show host advised James to quit the Purple and Gold side.

Jason Timpf, the host of Hoops Tonight, touched upon the highly discussed topic and also suggested a better alternative. In the latest episode, answering a fan’s question on the NBA Mailbag segment, Timpf suggested the superstar quit the Lakers and join hands with the NY Knicks. He said, “I would hate to LeBron go down with this particular ship… He is surrounded by incompetence at so many different levels.”

Timpf blamed the team’s incompetence entirely on the ownership. He went on to list down the departments which he felt weren’t doing a better job. Hilariously, he even pointed out the typo errors on the latest Kobe Bryant statue as a result of the ownership’s incompetence. Timpf doubled it down by saying, “When there is incompetence at the ownership level, it trickles down to every single level from there.”

Currently, the Lakers are in the 9th seed with a 38-32 record and will have to face a knockout game against the Dubs to secure their playoff spot this season. Apart from that, the LA team is filled with an inexperienced young roster. However, LeBron James went on to win the In-season Tournament with the same team. Nevertheless, Timpf felt that Knicks could be the better fit for the Akron Hammer; further suggesting the replacement the forward could fill in on the team.

How will LeBron James fit in with the Knicks?

Months before Timpf suggested the Knicks, King James himself hinted at his liking for the NY franchise. Ahead of the Lakers’ visit to the Madison Square Garden, James put out a ‘Statue of Liberty’ emoji. It made a huge buzz, however, it didn’t take off as James remained in the LA fold.

Now, Jason Timpf suggested that the superstar could replace Julius Randle and take over the power forward spot. Randle has been out of the team with an injured shoulder for over a month averaging 22.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists during his career run for the Knicks. Considering James’ current pace, industry enthusiasts believe, Kincks’ defendors and scorers would offer the right scenario for the forward. Now with the Lakers’ weaker campaign and free agency potential, his declaration wouldn’t be all that far-fetched.
