Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate then-Prince Charles’s 70th birthday when they were still working royals in 2018.

Footage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle swiftly leaving a garden party hosted at Buckingham Palace for then-Prince Charles’s 70th birthday prompted speculation that they were asked to leave.

The event took place in 2018, not long after Harry and Meghan had tied the knot in a lavish royal ceremony in Windsor.

Royal commentator Lady Colin Campbell claimed there had been tension in the air during the celebration, as Meghan was apparently “bored” and others alleged they had been escorted out of the party.

However a professional lip reader has examined the footage and has revealed what the monarch actually said to his youngest son on the day, and stressed there “definitely wasn’t any angst”.

The lip reader told MailOnline that a staff member explained to Harry that he had been “called for”.

Charles then said to Harry: “We are going now, We have to leave”, to which Harry replied: “You go ahead”.

The now-King said: “We will go now, see you later”, and Harry said in response: “Yes, catch up after.”

Earlier in the clip the Sussexes can be seen happily chatting to guests, with Meghan overheard admiring one woman’s necklace.

During their interactions Harry is approached by a royal member of staff, who appears to tell the Prince that his father wants to talk to him.

The Duke of Sussex then steps aside and Charles quietly tells him something, placing one hand on his son’s arm as he does so.

Harry nods and gestures ahead of him before patting Charles on the back and returning to Meghan, before Camilla walks over and kisses both Harry and Meghan goodbye before returning to the party.

The couple then say their goodbyes to the group they are chatting to and tell them to enjoy the rest of the afternoon, before they make their way back to Buckingham Palace with their staff.

Less than two years later Harry and Meghan had said goodbye to royal life itself and moved to California, where they are raising their two young children.

Some have suggested that Harry is feeling homesick, and lacks a strong circle of friends in Montecito as the area generally has an older population.
