Broadcast of Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade.

A horrifying and tragic situation unfolded on Wednesday afternoon at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 parade, when multiple suspects opened fire during the celebration.

According to reports, a shooting at the parade has left one person dead, with another 10-15 said to be injured. Shortly after 3:00 p.m. EST, the Kansas City Police Department announced that they had two armed suspects in custody.

A chilling new video shared by the Raws Alerts X/Twitter account shows a KCTV5 reporter trying to report on the parade. Before he can speak, the crowd behind him is seen running away in terror after multiple gun shots were heard in the area:

According to Tom Winter of NBC News, federal law enforcement officials currently believe that the act was “criminal in nature” and not an act of “terrorism.”

The Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade began downtown at 12 p.m. EST, 11 a.m. Central Time.

It’s impossible to find the words for another senseless act of violence on what was supposed to be a special day for the Kansas City community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and the entire city during this horrifying tragedy.
