Kirk Cousins being helped after injury

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is recovering from an Achilles injury suffered during a win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 8 last season.

The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the veteran quarterback given his age, but more so the fact that he’s set to enter free agency this year.

Suffering such an injury heading into free agency is never good given that you lose a lot of negotiating leverage. So it’s probably why Cousins initially refused to believe he’d sustained something major.

As it turns out, the 35-year-old was Mic’d Up when he got injured, so we could listen to his reaction in real-time.

Cousins hopped over to the Vikings bench after getting up and refused help.

“I don’t wanna use you, I just wanna hop,” he’s heard saying after a staffer offers to be his crutch.

The QB said he didn’t think he tore anything as he believed he was dealing with an ankle injury and expected to be out for around a month. As we know by now, he was dealing with a torn Achilles, which ruled him out for the rest of 2023.

As to whether he will remain in Minnesota remains to be seen, with the team set to weigh their options. Reports have noted that the Vikings want to keep Cousins but might not be willing to pay him the money he’s looking for.
