Patrick Mahomes is mulling whether or not to appeal the $50k fine he was handed for his outburst during last week’s Bills game, though the Chiefs star admitted he’s not familiar with the process.
Mahomes went berserk on a referee after an offensive offsides call on Kadarius Toney negated a late touchdown for the Chiefs against Buffalo, as he slammed his helmet to the ground.
He also appeared to yell, ‘We played our f****** a**** off and you call offensive offsides!’
And after being fined for his antics on Saturday, Mahomes told ProFootballTalk that he was in the process of deciding whether he’d contest the five-figure amount.
‘I honestly don’t even know how that process works,’ he said. ‘I think it’s the first time I’ve ever been fined. But I know mentally I’m just gonna move on and play. Now that the game’s over and I have an extra day, I’ll figure out how that process goes.’

Mahomes has made more than $136million in NFL earnings to date per Spotrac, but he’s still using his mishap and subsequent fine as a learning opportunity.
‘I knew that I let my emotions get the best of me,’ he added to PFT. ‘As a man and as a person, you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. And that’s how I was always taught growing up. And I knew that something was coming. I didn’t know what it was going to be and then the fine came and all I can do now is move on and become a better person about it and not let that scenario happen again.’
The quarterback continued to show his frustrations this past weekend vs. the Patriots after a first half interception, as he tossed his helmet on the sideline.
He was later incensed by another interception that occurred when a pass intended for Toney bounced off his hands.

It’s been a somewhat trying season for the defending champion Chiefs, who had lost four of their last six games before beating the Patriots.
The team’s usually explosive offense has been less potent than usual, averaging 22.8 points per contest, which is tied for 11th in the NFL.
Mahomes, meanwhile, has tied his career-high in interceptions (13) with three games left to play.
Nonetheless, the Chiefs are 9-5 with a commanding two-game lead of the AFC West heading into a divisional clash with the Raiders.
