The Los Angeles Rams vs. the Detroit Lions was a thrilling encounter with the Detroit-based team eventually creating history by winning a playoff game after 32 long years. Their last postseason win came in the 1991-92 season when Rodney Peete was their quarterback.
The victory in playoffs after three decades made the fans emotional. They were seen crying openly in the stadium, such was the occasion.
However, the game will be remembered for two more reasons. Two quarterbacks, Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff, faced their former clubs in the playoff game. Stafford had a ‘homecoming’ at the Motor City, and he was ‘welcomed’ by the fans in their style.
Stafford was first booed while coming out of the tunnel. The booing kept on persisting with Stafford’s multiple drives. The former Lions man added two touchdowns to his tally. The fans kept on booing him throughout.
Addressing the situation, the quarterback said in front of the press,
It’s a playoff game. I’m not surprised that they were excited about cheering for their team. I’m not too worried about anybody’s personal feelings towards me that was sitting in the stands.
Despite the continuous booing, the quarterback did not fail to acknowledge Goff’s efforts on the gridiron. Stafford added,
He’s their quarterback. He’s playing great, he led them to a win. I’m happy for him … they should be proud of him.
Stafford holds multiple franchise records for the Lions
Matthew Stafford was selected by the Detroit Lions in the year 2009. He played 12 seasons as the Lions signal caller. Stafford holds multiple franchise records as the Lions man. He is still the leading touchdown holder for the Lions. In addition, the QB also holds the record for covering the highest passing yards for the Lions.

Nonetheless, there was one thing that Stafford missed in 12-long-year—a win in the playoffs. Despite multiple playoff games, he failed to win a single game in the postseason for Detroit. It led to his departure from the roster in 2021 and Jared Goff came in.
And now Goff has created history for the Lions after securing the win against the Rams. He also had a great season with the Lions. In a twisted change of fate, both the QBs went on to achieve ‘some’ goods for their new homes.
