Dak Prescott signed a four-year, $160 million contract back in 2021, which included no-trade and no-tag clauses. He wants an extension and the team desperately needs to give him one to lower his cap number.

However, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier this week that the Cowboys and Dak Prescott have a mutual understanding that there will be no adjustment to his contract entering the 2024 season.

A new update on Friday shows there is a major divide in the Dallas Cowboys front office when it comes to the quarterback. Many are squarely behind Dak Prescott while others think the team has never gotten over the hump with him and think it might never happen with him as the quarterback.

Prescott has been known to put up gaudy numbers in the regular season, but although the team goes to the playoffs a lot, that is where his success ends.

Prescott is 2-5 in 7 career playoff games. Only seven out of 169 playoff quarterbacks have a worse winning percentage than Dak Prescott. The Cowboys endured more playoff heartbreak last season, losing to the Green Bay Packers in round one in the Wild Card round. They were the only home team to lose in that round.

Now, Dak Prescott is set to enter the 2024 season in the final year of his existing contract and it appears the team is going to see if he can get the team deep into the playoffs before they decide to pay him the big bucks.

The Dallas Cowboys have notably had a slow approach to free agency this offseason as they watched as running back Tony Pollard, center Tyler Biadasz, and defensive end Dorance Armstrong leave the team.

Dak Prescott’s contract is a reason why they have limited cap space which is why many thought an extension was coming.

Tad Prescott, the brother of Dak, has never been shy to share his opinion on his brother’s employer.
“So, if it wasn’t clear already, it is now. The Eagles have the best front office in the NFL. #howboutthemcowboys,” Tad Prescott wrote on X.
