The Kansas City Chiefs could be just as dangerous once again in 2024.

The Chiefs made their first splash in the legal negotiations period of free agency by adding to their offense.

Tight end Irv Smith Jr. has a new home with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Smith was a second-round pick in 2019 and has dealt with several injuries throughout his career. He spent last season with the Bengals and hauled in 18 passes for 115 yards with one touchdown in 12 games.

In 49 games with 21 starts, Smith has 109 career catches for 973 yards with 10 touchdowns.

At the tight end position, he will clearly be behind Travis Kelce and could be a safety blanket for the team just in case injuries happen. Playing with Patrick Mahomes could have him putting up a big year in a backup role.
