The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly nearing a deal for a big-name wide receiver.

With the NFL Draft having recently concluded, the team is still looking to plug holes in their roster. Former Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden, who now works as an analyst for CBS Sports, has teased that the team is close to a deal that would see them acquire a top pass-catcher.

“Ooooh, Omar is working,” he tweeted on Monday afternoon. “The Steelers are very close to landing a significant playmaker.”

ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has also urged the team to get San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel.

The Steelers are said to be looking to trade for both Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. They were also reported to have contacted the Denver Broncos to inquire about the possibility of a trade for Courtland Sutton prior to the draft.

GM Omar Khan Admits Pittsburgh Steelers Could Trade For WR

General manager Omar Khan said today that the Steelers would consider any opportunities to improve the roster.

The team entered the draft badly in need of receivers after trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers. However, they only selected one wide receiver, taking Roman Wilson in the third round.

While Wilson, Calvin Austin, Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins, and George Pickens could be all the Steelers need, the team has saved an additional $7 million in cap space before the draft by restructuring Alex Highsmith’s contrast and could still make some big moves.

“We’ll see. Like I’ve said, if there’s ever an opportunity to improve the team, we’ll look at it and if it makes sense, we’re going to go after it,” Khan remarked, per AtoZ Sports. “But yeah, we restructured Alex’s contract and it puts us in a position to be flexible with some things if there’s an opportunity to do something.“

McFadden has fans pretty excited now.
