More details have emerged on the street race that Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Rashee Rice allegedly participated in.
On Saturday, the soon-to-be 24-year-old was involved in a six-car accident in Dallas, Texas. Per reports, four people were injured in the crash, with two going to the hospital to have minor injuries treated.
According to a report from NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, police believe that a Lamborghini and Corvette that were involved in the six-car accident were participating in a game of street racing.
Attorney Kyle Coker told the outlet that The Classic Lifestyle leased the Lamborghini to Rice. The Classic Lifestyle is a Dallas-based exotic car rental company that had worked with the Chiefs’ wide receiver in the past.
Here’s what Coker said on the matter:
“Classic Lifestyle leased the vehicle, the 2021 Lamborghini Urus that was involved in this accident. And we had an agreement with Mr. Rice in order to provide that lease. And under our contract, it was supposed to be the only one driving vehicle.”
“In the past, Mr. Rice had rented at least several vehicles. There were never any driving citations or accidents related to that. The issue that we have right now is we’ve got a totaled vehicle, and we haven’t heard back as to who’s going to pay for that vehicle. And I understand, there’s, you know, kind of speculation back and forth as far as who’s driving. It doesn’t matter. I mean, we’re looking for accountability and to make sure that our business is made whole here.”
We’ll be sure to provide more details on the accident and Rashee Rice as they become available.
Rashee Rice Emerged As A Star In His Rookie Year
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Rashee Rice in the second round (55th overall) last year. The loss of top WR JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency left the Chiefs in desperate need of more receiving help, and Rice did not disappoint whatsoever.
The big-bodied wide receiver caught 79 passes for 938 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie year, with only tight end Travis Kelce finishing with more yards (984). Rice continued his magical run in the postseason, racking up 26 receptions for 262 yards and a touchdown.
His efforts helped the Chiefs outlast the San Francisco 49ers in overtime of Super Bowl 58, cementing the first Super Bowl repeat since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots. Now two-thirds of the way there, the Chiefs will aim to become the first team to complete a Super Bowl three-peat.
