A man once said, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.”

Such was the case this week regarding Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

There is a viral claim on social media that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced that they would leave the United States if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. The announcement that they said that came from a pro-Trump account and has been seen millions of times already.

“BREAKING: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce say they will leave the United States if Donald Trump becomes President in 2024. What’s your reaction?” the post says.

As you may suspect, this is nowhere close to being true.

Reuters has confirmed that neither Swift nor Kelce have made this kind of claim anywhere.

“There is no evidence that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced they will leave the country if former U.S. President Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election,” they reported.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has not been open about anything political but has been thrust in that spotlight ever since he did a vaccine commercial.

Swift on the other hand has endorsed Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris before in the 2020 presidential election, and she has long been critical of Trump and other Republican lawmakers.

Swift has not offered an endorsement in the 2024 presidential election.
