In an interview with CBS Mornings’ Jericka Duncan, the 35-year-old responded “Maybe” when asked if a run for President could be on his horizon.
“I have an interest in leveraging every part of my influence for good in the way that I can,” Curry explained when asked if he had an interest in politics.
He clarified that if politics were a way for him to help “create meaningful change” then he would consider it, although he added that this did not necessarily mean a Presidential run.
Likewise, “if there’s another way outside of politics” that would allow him to help society, he would seemingly consider that as well.
Duncan jokingly suggested that perhaps Curry could run in four years, to which he responded, “Not that soon.”
Curry’s interest in a political career doesn’t come as a surprise, given he’s never shied away from voicing his opinions.
The four-time NBA champion has worked with former President Barack Obama on numerous occasions.
In 2020, Curry interviewed the 44th U.S. President following the release of his memoir, A Promised Land.
That same year, he also publically endorsed President Joe Biden during his electoral campaign, in a video during the Democratic National Convention.
Fast forward a year, and Curry took another step into the world of politics, urging voters to call on their Senators to pass the Freedom to Vote Act.
But Curry’s desire to “create meaningful change” goes beyond political influence.
He is also a prolific philanthropist and children’s author.
Curry’s latest book, I Am Extraordinary, follows a young girl with a hearing aid and her journey to accepting who she is.
“It’ll hopefully inspire kids to love who they are,” he told Duncan.
Curry’s first book, I Have a Superpower, was written to teach children that anything can be attained with hard work and dedication.
