Taylor Swift fans have been left fuming that her Eras tour film will cost $19.89 to rent for just 48 hours.

The singer, 33, has been accused of taking an opportunity to ‘make even more money’ as many called on her to make it free as she is ‘already a billionaire’.

Revenue from the Style hitmaker’s hugely successful Eras tour pushed her net worth to $1.1billion last month, according to Forbes.

Others have criticised her for only letting people rent the concert film instead of allowing them to buy it to keep or stream as part of their subscription.

One said on Twitter: ‘I’m sorry but mother has been getting kinda money greedy recently cause ain’t no way she needs to make it $20 to see one time she’s literally a billionaire.’

The singer, 33, has been accused of taking an opportunity to ‘make even more money’ as many called her to make it free as she is ‘already a billionaire’

Another penned: ‘Why wouldn’t she make it free. She’s a billionaire & we’ve already paid to see it in movies.’

A third penned: ‘She is really finding a way to get every single dollar she can get out of this. renting is crazy.’

‘Capitalist queen for real,’ another wrote.

One more agreed: ‘Enough with the cash grabs girl. You have like a billion dollars. Releasing every CD with 8 different versions was already too much but this just feels egregious. Just let it stream or let people straight up buy it. This feels icky.’

Someone else said: ‘I’m kinda tired of her releasing one thing and then different versions of it later. I want to buy the thing and that’s it, I know I’ve gotten the complete item. Not dribs and drabs of it.’

Another fan replied to that Tweet saying: ‘The general vibe is that people are unimpressed by this blatant cash grab.’

Others pointed out that Taylor had withheld three songs from the movie theater release of her concert film that would now be available in the rented version.

Therefore even if fans had paid to see the film in the theater they have to pay again if they want to watch these additional performances.

It comes after she was similarly criticised for when she released multiple vinyl versions of her 1989 rerelease.

While the music on each vinyl was the exact same, they came in different colors and had a different photo of Taylor on the cover.

Each edition of the vinyl was listed on Taylor’s official store for $31.89.

It comes as Taylor was crowned the most listened to artist in the UK and the rest of the world on Spotify Wrapped 2023 on Wednesday with more than 26.1 billion global streams.

Currently boasting over 108 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform, the Enchanted singer previously bagged the UK top spot in 2022.

This year has been another very successful year for the pop superstar, who has been estimated to have generated nearly $5bn in consumer spending alone in the US leg of her Eras Tour.

Only two UK artist joined Taylor in the top five most streamed artist in the UK, with Drake and The Weeknd both landed second and third respectively.

Spotify Wrapped 2023 sums up how 574M people around the world listened to the streaming giant this year.

The brand unveiled that Arctic Monkeys and Ed Sheeran squeezed their way into the fourth and fifth UK spot.

But it was not only in the UK that Taylor bagged the most-listened-to crown – she also came out on top internationally.

It was the first time in three years the Bad Bunny was not been the most listened to artist globally.

But the Puerto Rican rapper did land second place, having released 2023 most streamed album – Un Verano Sin Ti – raking in a whopping 4.5 billion streams since January 1.

Coming in third was the Weeknd, whose album – Starboy – was the fourth most streamed of the year globally, despite being released in 2016.

The Weeknd was followed by Drake, Peso Pluma, Feild and Travis Scott, who launched his highly-anticipated album Utopia in July.

The eight most streamed artist globally was SZA, who rocked the R&B genre with her critically acclaimed album SOS.

SOS, which included a roster of hits such as Kill Bill, Snooze and Good Days, was the third highest streamed album on Spotify internationally.

Following SZA in ninth and tenth place is Karol G and Summertime Sadness crooner Lana Del Rey.

Swift also had major success with two songs, which both landed in Spotify’s top ten most streamed songs globally.

Both her 2016 single Cruel Summer and her 2022 hit-song Anti-Hero placed sixth and tenth on the list.

Nabbing the crown for 2023’s most listened to song in world was Flowers by Miley Cyrus, with more than 1.6 billion listens since January 1.

In second and third place was SZA with Kill Bill and As It Was by Harry Styles.

As It Was previously held the crown for most streamed song on the streaming platform in 2022, reaching close to 1.5 billion plays.

This year, Swift also mirrored the same success with her albums.

Two of the country singer’s projects also proved to be global favourites with Midnights and Lover being unveiled as the second and seventh most listened to albums worldwide.
