Taylor Swift had a face of thunder following Jo Koy’s pointed NFL joke at the Golden Globes. The host, who was firing off gags at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California, decided he couldn’t leave the pop star out.
Swift is in attendance after being nominated for her concert movie, ‘The Eras Tour’. The 12-time Grammy winner is up for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award, it would be her first win at the Golden Globes.
And picking Swift out of the crowd, while pointing to her recent takeover of the NFL, Koy said: “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL: On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift. I swear”
At this point, the footage cut to Swift who looked completely deadpan. The ‘Cruel Summer’ singer refused to crack a smile or even acknowledge the joke as she took a sip of her drink.
With little reaction, Koy promptly moved on with his set. Swift’s reaction wasn’t missed by viewers, with many taking to X to share their thoughts.
One posted: “Oof. I don’t think Taylor Swift liked Jo Koy’s joke about her…”
Another said: “This is embarrassing for him.”
A different watcher said: ” The only appropriate and real reaction to this host. Can you imagine eliciting that look from Taylor Swift?! Omg. Love her!”
While another joked: “He will be the subject of her next song.”
Swift has of course been ever-present in the NFL of late. Her relationship with Travis Kelce has blown up and dominated headlines. When not performing on her ‘Eras Tour’, Swift has regularly watched Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs in person.
The pop star has attended nine games in total, including the two on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. She’s traveled far and wide to see her new boyfriend, but he was unable to match any of those gestures on Sunday.
Despite being in Los Angeles with the Chiefs, who played the Chargers, Kelce was unable to attend the Golden Globes. This is also while not playing a single minute for his team.
Kelce was rested for the win at SoFi Stadium, thanks to a ‘coach’s decision’ from Andy Reid. The tight end only needed 16 yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark for an eighth consecutive year but was unable to do so – likely missing out on a nice financial boost.
