Texans wide receiver Tank Dell sustained a minor gunshot wound in a shooting in Sanford, Florida.
Security camera footage from a Florida event venue captures the instant a fight broke out, sparking a shooting that injured ten individuals, including wide receiver Tank Dell of the Houston Texans.
The footage and further details regarding the events that transpired at the Cabana Live event venue early on Sunday morning were made available by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
Due to a big audience, the sheriff’s office reports that when deputies arrived at the venue just after midnight to begin an area patrol, they were greeted by an armed security guard who had successfully captured the 16-year-old male suspect in the shooting.
The footage released shows a fight breaking out as you see Tank Dell coming out in the middle and getting caught between the 16-year-old shooter and another person who was returning fire.
Later, deputies say, they learned that five more shots had been fired in retaliation by a second, unidentified shooter. The second unnamed gunman seen the furthest away from Dell is still being sought after.
“We’re fortunate no one is dead or more people injured,” said Sheriff Dennis Lemma, via Wesh.com, who credited the actions of a security guard as “heroic.” “He literally tackled this guy from behind, got his weapon, and delivered him to us in handcuffs.”
Promoters of the event had ten armed security guards working the event and had a no-firearms policy for patrons. It remains unclear how the teenager got in with the handgun, but it will be part of the ongoing investigation.
