George Pickens‘ day went from bad to worse when he traveled to Orchard Park to face the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card round. Moments before the game, it was revealed that the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ young wide receiver had been fined more than $200,000 throughout the season for various reasons.
Maybe it was weighing on his mind or possibly the extreme cold weather in Buffalo that affected his play on the night. Unlike the Baltimore Ravens game, in which he caught 0 balls, against the Bills he had 5 receptions.
However, he could easily have more, and if it weren’t for Bills’ fans throwing snowballs at him all night. First, while he was sitting on the bench along with a few other Steelers players. He turned around to see who was the culprit, but it was just a sea of fans enjoying the taunt.

The next was during the game. Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Rudolph, who came to Pickens’ aid after the Ravens horror show, threw the ball towards him inside the Bills endzone. The 22-year-old almost caught it, but the ball hit his hand, and he bobbled off for an incomplete pass. But the interesting part was when, during the replay, the camera caught a snowball landing right next to him at that moment.
George Pickens was livid during the Bills game
The game was frustrating for the Pittsburgh players, who faced the referees’ wrath on a few occasions. But when they wanted a ruling in their favor, the officials just walked away without batting an eye.

A good example would be a play from the fourth quarter. With under 5 minutes to go until the final whistle, the Steelers trail the Bills 17-31. Pittsburgh had the ball on 4th and 3rd. Rudolph hit Pickens with a dart, but he was unable to hold onto it because Bills cornerback Dane Jackson was covering him.
Pickens pleaded with the officials that he was held by Jackson, resulting in a yellow flag. The former Bulldog was left frustrated as the referee signaled for the switch of possession. While Jackson and the Bills celebrated on the field, Pickens was smashing his helmet on the ground in anger on the sidelines.
After the game, he claimed that they lost because they were playing against both the Bills and the referees. He had only gained 50 yards in the game and did not see any more action.
