San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel always comes prepared for a game. It was more of the same before the 49ers NFC Divisional game against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, taunting one of his favorite rivals.

Avid followers of pro football can recall the online beef between Samuel and his NFC rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. More precisely, with Eagles playmaker AJ Brown, who trolled his counterpart, egging the Phillies fans to keep nagging him.

A lot of time has passed since that day, but it seems the 28-year-old hasn’t forgotten. The Eagles crashed out of the postseason after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild card.

It seems to get back at them, Samuel showed up wearing a hoodie that had the words “standing on business” with a picture of him waving goodbye to the Eagles. Was it also designed by Kristin Juszczyk? Not so sure about that.

Deebo Samuel needs to have a massive game against the Packers

It’s astonishing how one-season confidence can improve a player’s perspective. At the end of the 2022 campaign, Deebo was ready to pack his bags, requesting a trade. But the San Francisco 49ers stuck by him, and in the following year, he gained 1,117 rushing and receiving yards and scored 12 touchdowns.

One of his best performances in the 2023 regular season came against the Eagles. That day, he dropped 198 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns as they scored 42 points. Running back, one of Samuel’s best mates, Christian McCaffrey, spilled the beans about the playmaker.

I don’t think people understand how good he is; our team does. If you look at receivers with the ball in their hands, he’s the only one I’ve ever seen who seeks out contact. For him to do that, it sets a tone.

McCaffrey told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Fortunately, head coach Kyle Shanahan saw the potential in Samuel and tied him down to a new contract. A three-year, $71.55 million extension in August 2022 did the trick, and now the 49ers are one step closer to playing in the Super Bowl.

The Packers will pose a challenge for Shanahan, as per Skip Bayless. The veteran sports analyst sounded very confident, hypothesizing that Green Bay will do the same with the 9ers as they did to the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card.
