An old story about Jason Kelce almost dying in a terrible boating accident has resurfaced.

On Monday, the seven-time Pro Bowler announced his retirement from football following a phenomenal 13-year career. The 2011 sixth-round pick spent his entire career with the Philadelphia Eagles, helping the franchise to its first Super Bowl championship in the 2017 season.

Kelce’s former teammate, Chris Long, shared an old video of Kelce detailing a story about how an Eagles’ Fourth of July party some years ago almost turned tragic. And it was all due to Kelce needing an immediate bathroom break.

Back in 2020, Kelce shared a story about the Eagles enjoying a Fourth of July on a rented houseboat. According to the future Hall of Fame inductee, Kelce noticed the bathroom line was awfully long, so he decided to take care of his business in the water.

Wanting to ensure the boat didn’t drive off without him, Kelce made the dangerous decision of tying a rope from the boat around him. The boat started moving during just after he did that, and Kelce lost his bathing suit in the process.

Fortunately, the rope was short enough that Kelce was able to get his head up and alert them to stop the boat.

Thankfully, the future Eagles icon avoided tragedy and can proudly tell that story with plenty of laughter to follow.
