STEVE HARVEY was the victim of various death hoaxes throughout 2023 and it appears that rumours of his death have continued into 2024.

The Family Feud host is one of the biggest names in TV and, despite being alive and well, his many fans have been searching to check in on his wellbeing amid more false death claims.

Why is ‘Steve Harvey dead’ trending?

The term “Steve Harvey dead” began trending online in January 2024, despite the comedian being in good health.

For some reason news of Steve’s death had been trending throughout 2023 and, as of January 2024, has continued to do so.

The ongoing hoax appeared to begin March 2023 when it was reported that a Facebook post saying “R.I.P Steve Harvey” was gaining traction on the social media site.

The post allegedly read: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday (March 05, 2023), our beloved actor Steve Harvey passed away.”

Understandably, the fake news left fans of the Family Feud host fearing for the worst – but it soon appeared that he remained alive and well.

In the July, the TV star’s death was trending once more, but Mr Harvey himself put to bed any doubt over his health by addressing the fake news in a tweet.

Two months later, “Steve Harvey dead” trended on TikTok yet again.

It was, in fact, Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell who had died, but because of the similarity in names they got linked on social media.

Then, a cruel TikTok trend saw users pulling a prank on family members by saying a famous celebrity had died in order to capture their reaction.

Steve Harvey was one of the names to be used – which quickly caused another surge in searches over his fake death.

Prior to the January 2024 rumours, the last panic over Harvey’s fake death had happened in November 2023.

A notorious website which generates its own fake reports that a celeb’s death has been announced on Facebook claimed that he had passed away.

They stated that a post had gone up on Facebook saying: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Monday (November 06, 2023), our beloved actor Steve Harvey passed away.

“Steve Harvey was born on January 17, 1957 in Welch. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

The Facebook post does not actually exist, however, and it is all a cruel fabrication.

What have fans said?

Steve Harvey fans have repeatedly slammed the cruel death hoaxes that have been trending since the beginning of 2023.

One said: “Steve Harvey is not dead. There is a huge hoax going on and it’s a big fat lie.

“Thanks Jesus for not taking him yet. We need him still here.”

Following the fake Facebook post in March 2023, another person said: “Facebook why are you letting people put out that Steve Harvey is dead? You need to stop this at once.”

A third posted: “I saw a hoax post about Steve Harvey being dead – he is not.

“But in checking it out I found he was born in West Virginia. I did not know that before.”

Who is Steve Harvey?

Steve is an American comedian who is best known for hosting Family Feud and the Miss Universe competition.

He has fronted an array of TV shows, including The Steve Harvey Morning Show, The Steve Harvey Talk Show and Little Big Shots.

He has also appeared in movies, including Racing Stripes, Love Don’t Cost A Thing and You Got Served.

Steve was born in Welch, West Virginia, on January 17, 1957, to coal miner dad, Jesse Harvey, and mom Eloise Vera.

He was named Broderick Stephen Harvey after actor Broderick Crawford of TV series Highway Patrol.

The star began his career as a stand-up comedian in the early 1980s but was homeless for the first three years.

Steve has been married three times and is currently wedded to Marjorie Bridges, who he has been with since 2007.

The star has seven children (four biological children and three stepchildren) including model and influencer Lori Harvey who is his adopted daughter.

Steve is also an author and in 2009 he published a book of relationship advice for women called Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man.

He was an executive producer for a 2012 film based on the book, Think Like A Man, in which he also made a cameo appearance.

Harvey received criticism for meeting former president Donald Trump in January 2017, shortly after Trump had been elected.

He defended his decision at the time, saying it would help spark positive changes.

Harvey explained: “I found him in our meeting both congenial and sincere.

“I walked away feeling like I had just talked with a man who genuinely wants to make a difference.”
